Learn more about GPT or AI

Hey everyone!

Have you been hearing the whispers? The buzz? About something called "AI" or "GPT"? If you haven't, you need to pay attention, because it feels like something really, really big is happening right now with computers and writing.

Just a few months ago, in late 2019, folks were talking about a new kind of computer program called "GPT-2". And wow, what it can do is kinda mind-blowing!

I was reading some super cool blogs and articles, and they were all showing off how this GPT-2 could *write*! Like, real sentences, real paragraphs. It wasn't perfect, but it was so much better than anything we've seen before.

One blog I saw, from Bitvore, showed how it could make up news stories. Can you imagine a computer writing news?

Another amazing one was "The Illustrated GPT-2" by Jay Alammar. He showed pictures to help explain how this "Transformer" brain works. It made me feel like I could almost understand the magic!

And there was this really interesting person named Gwern Branwen who was using it to write poems and stories. It felt a bit strange, like the computer was trying to be creative. It’s wild!

Some smart marketing people were even trying to see if GPT-2 could write ads! While it wasn't going to replace humans overnight (yet!), the fact that it could even try was a huge deal.

What does this mean for us? Well, think about it:

  • Maybe computers will help us write emails faster.
  • Maybe they can help us brainstorm ideas for stories or projects.
  • It could even help programmers write code!

It's like a computer that can understand and create text. It's not just following rules; it's learning from tons and tons of books and websites!

I know it all sounds a bit like science fiction, but these blog posts from just last year showed it’s real. This "GPT" thing, whatever it fully becomes, feels like the start of something truly amazing. Keep your eyes peeled!

What do you think? Have you heard about GPT-2? Let me know in the comments!
